This was the first painting in a series of thirty paintings, a study that resulted in many different characters…
This first one and the second one however are my favorites.
I was given a photograph to copy, but that was not what I intended to do……the original was a very gentle looking young man, and this is how I saw him.
The color does not reflect anything about his persona, only that it seemed to work for this painting.
