Some Random Thoughts and anecdotes…

JAY AND I SIGNED UP FOR A PORTRAIT PAINTING CLASS IN THE WINTER
SEMESTER IN THE ENCORE PROGRAM…..OUR INSTRUCTOR WAS JOHN PAUL THORNTON.
I’VE HEARD NOTHING BUT WONDERFUL STORIES ABOUT HIS
TEACHING METHODS AND HIS CLASS IN GENERAL….SO I WAS
ECSTATIC TO FINALLY BE ATTENDING ONE OF HIS CLASSES
THE TITLE OF THE CLASS IS PORTRAIT PAINTING AND THE MAIN
MEDIUM IS OIL, ALTHOUGH WATERCOLOR WAS ENCOURAGED.
ACRYLIC, MY MEDIUM OF CHOICE WAS SOMEWHAT FROWNED
UPON, THOUGH NOT COMPLETELY, BUT AT LEAST THE OPINION OF
MR THORNTON WAS THAT ACRYLIC COULD NOT ACHIEVE THE SAME
ARTISTIC RESULTS THAT ONE COULD ACHIEVE FROM OIL OR
WATERCOLOR……
OKAY, BUT FOR ME ACRYLIC IS WHERE I AM FROM AND IT’S
WHERE I WAS GOING….ARTISTICALLY MAYBE NOT THE BEST CHOICE,
BUT IT’S WHAT I KNOW AND FEEL COMFORTABLE USING... “SHARNA”
