Elephant Seals in Cambria California
This rendition of the elephant seals in Cambria was painted shortly after our return from the site where they congregate every year to mate and give birth to their young. We never tire of the miracle of this spectacle and each time we go there is a different scenario. Watching the male bulls challenge one another is a site in itself……the babies lay close to the mother and when the bulls come near it is terrifying to think they could be crushed by the male.
We have never tired of this experience and always visit them when we drive highway 1 up the mountain in northern California.
